2012 Association League Stonelaw February 2012

Club Champions Uddingston started this years league campain where they left off last year winning 3 gold 3 silver and 5 bronze medals. A good turn out for our 1st League matches of the year also saw some of the new WKF competition rules coming into place. Points are now only awarded when two flags are out, also fighters no longer get points for penalties which makes quite a differance on how matches progress. Finally there is no extra time if a bout ends in a draw, it then goes to the referee & judges decision. They should then award the bout to the competitor who attacks the most, with good technique.

Well done to both Kara & Morgan McEwan from our Moffat club, both attended Sensei Kanazawa's final training course in Stirling before Christmas. Both girls enjoyed the session with the Shotokan Master who has now retired from travelling the world teaching Karate.

Tobi-Ishi-Kai Open Championships Worcester January 2012.

Well done to Marc MaCaulay in taking Gold in his first outing in Senior events especially as he beat his brother Greg in the Final. The only down side from this match was Greg unfortunately broke this thumb for the second time in six months. Both boys came through three rounds before meeting in the final, which Marc dominated and deserved to win.
